[Mar. 3rd, 2009|02:20 pm] |
I first started using Livejournal over five years ago in January 2004. Now it's time to bid farewell.

Thanks for being my neighbor. I'm so glad we had this time together.

I'm completely worn out. In a very bad way.
Hopefully, some rest and sanity will arrive after Mar 1st. |

Being that I'm single again (mp3, btw), I have no obligation to spend Valentine's Day in the city this weekend. So, I'm going to enjoy the weather and head down to the San Diego Zoo. Cheers!

| Sleeeeeppppppy! |
[Feb. 10th, 2009|12:49 pm] |
I'm so sleepy. I have a lot more work to do. I can't decide if it's better to go to the back and take a nap on the couch or go for a run around the neighborhood.
I have a feeling that the nap won't give me my energy back. |

| Bill Gates Releases a Swarm of LIVE MOSQUITOS on Audience |
[Feb. 4th, 2009|04:18 pm] |
In what is probably the coolest conference-talk attention grab I've ever heard of, Bill Gates apparently just released a swarm of mosquitoes into the crowd at the TED conference, the geniuses-only mind meld. Holy sh**!
"Not only poor people should experience this," the Tweetosphere has Gates saying as he released the swarm into the audience. Malaria is a cause that Bill and Melinda have been hitting hard with their philanthropy, and this is certainly a way to drive that point home.
No word yet on the size of said swarm, or confirmation that they weren't actually infected with malaria for that matter, but as far as stunts go, this is pretty awesome.
Bravo, Bill!

| Music from Movie Trailers: 500 Days of Summer |
[Jan. 19th, 2009|01:09 pm] |
I'm a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and, though I haven't seen too much of her work, I did enjoy Zooey Deschanel in The Good Girl. The two of them join up for 500 Days of Summer, a romantic-musical by Marc Webb (director of music videos for My Chemical Romance, Fergie, P. Diddy, etc). The premise, according to WIkipedia:
The film tells the story of the relationship between a woman, Summer (Deschanel), who doesn't believe in true love and a man, Tom (Gordon-Levitt), described as a hopeless romantic, who falls in love with her. Over a span of 500 days, it is told from the perspective of Tom, who is influenced by pop music and breaks out into song throughout the movie.
Well, alright then! Here's the movie trailer and the song from said trailer. Enjoy!

| Travel Travel Travel On The Brain |
[Jan. 3rd, 2009|07:15 pm] |
Good riddance, 2008! What a dreadfully worrisome year! It coldn't end soon enough for
Anyhow, six years ago I set a goal to travel to a new location that I've always wanted to visit at least once per year. Surprisingly, it's worked out well for me so far: Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Toronto, Big Bear etc. The benefit of making such a goal is that each year, I know exactly what I need to budget my time and money for about a year in advanced. However, I'm not sure where I want to go this year.
- Camping the King's Canyon (Sequoia National Forest) sounds pretty awesome, and it's really close, but I'd have to round up folks to join me - and knowing my friends, that's not an easy task.
- Vancouver would be a pretty inexpensive late Summer, but I'm not sure I want to go there bad enough to make it one of my annual trips.
- Chicago? Never been. But, what's there to see there? Although, I so have some friends whom I should touch base with in Illinois, now that I think about it. Hmm...
- Apparently, a trip to Costa Rica is about the same price as a trip to Atlanta, so that may be an option.
Part of the problem is that I've never been a person who goes on vacation to relax. I go on vacation to experience new things that I can't do in my everyday life. A friend of mine invited me to Cabo San Lucas and when I asked what we'd be doing, she replied "Just hanging out by the beach, drinking, partying." I said "No thanks."
I've got a lot of thinking to do, but I also have a lot of time. I usually don't take my trips until the peak travelling season has ended, so that give me quite a few months.
On a not-so-fun travelling note: I have to take a trip home to handle "death-related" stuff. Wrench, Meet Plans.
